Long
Distance Champions!
In the year 2000 Sampson Brothers
Loft set a new goal, they decided that they would again
specialize in the Long Distance racing. In the early
years they were specialist at Long Distance, in 1992 they
decided they would concentrate on YB racing. With the
development of Sampson Brothers Light System they revolutionized
the sport of YB racing in America winning 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 New
England Open 300 (560 (km) Vs 4869 pigeons. Many other times
they have won the top 10 or more positions in the Boston
Concourse as well Vs 1200 to 2400 pigeons..
Due to the elder
Sampson's (John) health (pigeon allergies) and time restrictions
it was decided two years ago, that Long Distance is what they
should specialize in again, Long Distance racing requires less
work for the fancier and the quality of the pigeons more
determine your results, than the system. In 2001 they were
2nd New England Open 500, missing 1st prize by 2 seconds, 2002
was a building year and in 2003 they met their goal.
In less than 3 years
they have accomplished their new goal, they have "come full
circle", Long Distance Champions once again. The
pigeons are basically the same family, they never needed to
change. However the methods have changed quite allot with total
emphasis for Young birds and Old geared to Long Distance racing.
The overall quality of the pigeons have still allowed them to
have some outstanding performances at the shorter distances,
Young birds and Old birds as well.
Most astonishing is
the fact that the Sampson's need a South West wind to do well in
the Concourse or Opens, in 2003 OB season, the wind was out
of the North nearly every week.
